Quemby
Rice Plantation & French Huguenot Church Kayak Tour This blackwater kayak tour starts on Quemby Creek and
twists along the historic banks of Quemby Plantation. Journeying through abandoned rice
fields of wildflowers, we paddle on to the East Branch of the Cooper River where wooden
barges once floated rice, cotton and indigo out to the Charleston Harbor. Halfway through
the tour you will explore a French Huguenot Church hundreds of years old that rests on a
high sandy bluff overlooking the river. Here you will view bald eagles, hawks and wetland
shore birds for miles overlooking the abandoned rice fields while you stop and have lunch.
Often accompanied by the nostalgic American Alligator, this tour is truly a paddlers
favorite. |

MAGNOLIA GARDENS WITH ISAAC
LEACH
Isaac Leach is the 3rd generation descendent of the Leach family who has managed
Magnolia's prized azalea and camellia collections for nearly a century. Isaac's
grandfather, Rev. William Leach, was an influential leader in his community through his
church, and can be credited with nurturing Magnolia's earliest camellia and azalea
varieties. Isaac's father, Rev. Johnnie Leach, is, at eighty-years old, still a tireless
keeper of his own father's plants. And Isaac, your guide, has cared for Magnolia's old
plants while planting hundreds of new specimens. On his guided walking tour of the garden
you will learn all about the design and development of the Garden itself. He will describe
how concepts of both preservation and improvement influence today's garden, and of course
point out particular points of interest within the Garden, including specified trees,
shrubs, and other blooming plants. After your stroll through the garden you will be taken
on a private tram tour which will take you into part of the Audubon Swamp Garden, home to
scores of water loving creatures and traversed by boardwalks, dikes, and bridges to put
the visitor in close contact with its inhabitants. You may even see an alligator and will
have the opportunity to view the abundant bird population of the lowcountry. Cookies and
Lemonade will be served in the Barbados Garden.

WINE AND
CHEESE WITH THE SILVER LADY
Begin your afternoon with a
brief walking tour of Ansonborough, one of Charleston's early suburbs. After your
stroll join Dawn Evers, the Silver Lady, for a lecture on antique silver. The pieces
that she will show you are truly exquisite. Dawn is a nationally recognized silver
specialist and teacher of the history and construction of silver. She has made
regular appearances on national television, including the "Antiques Road show",
and is known on South Carolina public television as "The Silver Lady". Her
goal is to do more than just impart knowledge about each silver piece - she wants people
to truly love the objects and her enthusiasm is contagious. "No one ever leaves
any of my lectures feeling negative - unless of course they've just sold a treasure in a
garage sale." After the lecture wine and cheese will be served.

AN
AFTERNOON SAIL ON THE HARBOR
Come ride with us through the famous and historic
harbor of Charleston, South Carolina. There is nothing more beautiful and quietly elegant

schooners and has the character and charm of the great days of sailing. Help to
raise and lower her sails and even take a turn at the wheel if you like. As you sail
through Charleston's beautiful harbor view the lovely homes along the Battery, Fort
Sumter, and Patriots Point from the water. During your cruise you may even see an
